Our visual school

At our BeyondEye ophthalmological practice, our orthoptists offer a special programme for children as well as adults: a vision school. The vision school teaches you how to deal better with eye movement disorders. For example, when it comes to strabismus or amblyopia.

The main aim of the vision school is to recognise defective vision at an early stage, have it checked by an ophthalmologist and then correct it with orthoptic treatment. This is because the earlier the visual defect is recognised, the better it can be treated - and thus prevent permanent damage. We can treat very young children from around the age of one to two with gentle, playful exercises. Anomalies are often detected by paediatricians during the U-examinations and referred to us.

What does an orthoptist do?

What does an orthoptist do?

Orthoptists are specially trained specialists in an ophthalmological practice. They treat children and adults who have been diagnosed with visual disorders. These include, for example, strabismus, eye tremor or another form of visual impairment. Movement disorders of the eye, eye muscle paralyses or the perception of double vision can also be treated. Sometimes there are also restrictions in the field of vision following accidents or strokes. There are tried and tested exercises for this, which are carried out under the guidance of orthoptists.

We look forward to welcoming you or your child to our BeyondEye vision school! You can make an appointment by telephone on 0221/871050 or arrange online .
